Tree smashes through roof of car in strong winds in London Road near Tunbridge Wells Common

10:30, 13 February 2014

This is the moment a car was crushed by a large tree that fell in high winds in Tunbridge Wells.

The roof of the silver car was crumpled when the tree smashed down onto the vehicle parked in London Road yesterday afternoon.

Miraculously, no one was hurt in the incident at about 2pm as gale-force winds battered the county.

Kent Police said officers and Kent Highways workers were called to tape off the scene, near The Common.

A police spokesman said there were no reports of any injuries, but the car was written off.

The tree was later cut up and moved by locals with chainsaws.
