Clubbers will pay a fitting tribute to a much-loved Maidstone man who was always the last to leave the dance floor.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend Source Bar, in Rose Yard, tomorrow for a night of music in memory of Wayne Sauerbach, 50.
The self-employed flooring contractor, of St Phillip’s Avenue, near Mote Park, died after suffering a heart attack on Friday, October 24, while working at a friend’s house.
His death came as a shock to his partner of 11 years, Caz Buck, who had spoken to Mr Sauerbach earlier in the day when he complained of feeling unwell.
He had assured her he would be fine, but was later found unconscious and could not be revived.
“He was my soulmate,” said Miss Buck. “We did everything together and had such an amazing relationship.
“His philosophy in life was to make people happy, which is probably why he was known by so many people.”
She added: “I think he would want to be remembered as the person he was – caring, loving and generous. Loads of people have said they’ll always remember his huge smile.”
The couple had held a joint party at the Spirit Lounge, next door to tomorrow’s venue, just three weeks before his death to celebrate their 50th birthdays.
Miss Buck, who turned 50 three days after the tradesman’s death, said it was their love of music which brought them together when they met at The Loft nightclub, off Gabriel’s Hill.
During Mr Sauerbach’s funeral on Tuesday, the crowd of more than 300 people listened to Annie Lennox’s Why and Too Lost in You by the Sugababes, which the couple planned to play at their wedding if they ever decided to tie the knot.
Miss Buck said the outpouring of support has been “overwhelming” for her and Mr Sauerbach’s two sons, Grant, 29, and Fraser, 24, as well as her 21-year-old daughter, Hannah.
The family will be among the dozens at tomorrow’s tribute night.
The line-up features a selection of the couple’s DJ friends who decided to dedicate the event to Mr Sauerbach. Doors open at 10pm.
