Passengers are warned to check before they travel due to a twisted track on the railway line between Harrietsham and Maidstone East.
The London-bound line was closed while engineers carry out repairs to the track, close to Hollingbourne.
Replacement buses have been arranged to ferry passengers between Otford, Maidstone East and Harrietsham.
A Southeastern spokesman said: "We apologise for any disruption to your journey today. London Underground is accepting tickets on all reasonable routes between London terminals."
The rail company advises passengers stranded at Maidstone East to walk to nearby Maidstone Barracks, where services are running as normal.
Passengers are also able to tickets on high speed services between Strood and St Pancras International.
If you are delayed by more than 30 minutes you can claim compensation by filling out a form on the Southeastern website.
The line has since reopened, but delays are expected to last for the rest of the day, including the evening peak.
