TWO people received roadside first aid for whiplash injuries and were taken to Maidstone Hospital as a precaution after two cars spun out of control in separate incidents on the M20 today.

The accidents happened in icy conditions within 100 metres of each other just before 11am on the London-bound carriageway between junction seven at Bearsted and junction six at Sandling, near Maidstone.

Although the cars did not collide with each other, the motorway had to be completely shut in the London-bound direction while police removed debris from the road.

Traffic was then reduced to two lanes as lane one was blocked by one of the damaged vehicles. Traffic began to build up and there were still long queues sometime later.
