Vintage entertainment at the Royal Star Arcade, in Maidstone High Street, for two day fair

13:00, 28 February 2015

Dancers and specialist stalls attending a two day vintage fair are wowing visitors to the Royal Star Arcade.

More than a dozen independent stands have been set up in the centre, just off Maidstone High Street, while dancers from the Homefront Lindy Hop perform through the day.

Holly Jay Foster, who was crowned Miss Vintage UK last year, is the guest of honour at the showcase, which has been organised by the arcade and the Vintage at JuJu-Couture store, which is also based in the centre.

Miss Foster said: "I love it. This is a fantastic event and fun for all the family. I'm so pleased I was invited here."

This is the second fair that has been organised and it is planned for them to run quarterly.

Vintage at JuJu-Couture was heavily involved in making the event happen.

A store spokesman said: "Today has been great, it's fantastic. The fact that Holly is here makes it all the better.

"We are trying to bring vintage back to Maidstone. This building featured in the James Bond movie Moonraker. It has a huge history and we are trying to recreate that.

"It's all about nostalgia and people are loving to sit and watch the dancers and listen to the music. It brings back bygone times."

The fair runs until 4.30pm today and from 11am to 3.30pm tomorrow.

The next one is then due to take place on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.

Before that a celebration of northern soul, mod jazz and ska will take place at The Rafters, also in Maidstone High Street, on Friday, March 13.
