Gallery nightclub in Maidstone treated stabbed man as police launch murder investigation after 21-year-old man dies

A Maidstone nightclub has revealed its first aiders treated a man with stab wounds on a night when violence broke out in a town and ended with another man losing his life.

Police have today arrested four men after a 21-year-old man was fatally injured after being stabbed. Tragically he died in Maidstone High Street.

Four men were also injured with three taken to a London hospital and the fourth taken to a local hospital.

A cordon has remained in place around the High Street and Jubilee Square for most of the day.

Distressing footage also emerged of fights breaking out around the area in the early hours of the morning.

In a statement posted by The Gallery, management at the nightclub responded to suggestions violence started in the Bank Street venue and people attending a night featuring London rapper MoStack had not been searched.

It read: "Everyone at Gallery hopes all involved in the incident in the early hours of this morning in Jubilee Square makes a speedy recovery and sends its condolences to the family and friends of the person who sadly passed away.

"We would like to put a few comments that have been circulating on social media straight.

"The incident did not start inside or directly outside Gallery.

"The incident started in Jubilee Square and involved various members of the public.

"A member of the public came down to Gallery to seek urgent medical attention after suffering multiple stab wounds. He was treated by our first aiders who provided the best care possible until the ambulance crew arrived."

The statement added everyone who attended the night was searched on entry.

"We used hand-held metal detector wands, as can be seen from our CCTV and customers who entered the club are fully aware of [this].

"Our CCTV of the road has been passed to police to assist them with their enquiries."

It ended by thanking staff and emergency services for bringing the incident to a 'swift conclusion' and providing the best care to those who were injured.

Four men from London have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 23-year-old man, two 21-year-old men and a 19-year-old man currently remain in custody.
