A mum has spoken out about the moment her fish and chip shop was robbed
Owners of Marino Fish Bar in Bearsted, Samantha Michaelas and her husband, Donda, were asleep in bed when they were woken up by the sound of their dog barking.
The couple, who live above the takeaway restaurant in Ashford Road, got up to discover their shop had been burgled.
The mum-of-four said: "It was the early hours of Thursday morning and the dog just started barking which woke us up.
"The alarm was going off so we shot out of bed, turned it off and then we heard a bang.
"My husband got the CCTV up on his phone and we saw that the till draw was missing.
"I called the police and told them 'I think we have been burgled'.
"The alarm was going off so we shot out of bed, turned it off and then we heard a bang" - Samantha Michaelas
"They turned up within five minutes with sniffer dogs and two police cars. We weren't allowed downstairs until they had secured the place."
Officers were called at around 1.30am.
The shop's daily takings are not stored in the till so only around £200 was taken.
The 36-year-old added: "We have two tills in the shop but they only managed to get into one.
"My two eldest children, who are 14 and 12, woke up and so we had to calm them down and have a chat with them about what was going on.
"We are always weary and it wasn't nice.
"Its such a shame, it just makes you feel so uncomfortable."
