16:38, 08 February 2006

KENT Police are appealing for information after a female bus driver was assaulted by passengers.

The incident happened on the No 82 bus while it was parked in Wallis Avenue, Parkwood, Maidstone, at around 6pm on Monday, January 30.

Maidstone and Malling Police spokeswoman Gianna Pollero said: "Previously, three passengers, a woman and two men with a child in a pushchair, got onto the bus in the town centre and when asked to fold the pushchair away for safety reasons, became verbally abusive.

"The verbal abuse continued throughout the journey, until eventually, the bus driver stopped the bus in Wallis Avenue and asked the passengers to get off.

"As a result of this, the female passenger and one of the male passengers assaulted the bus driver by punching her to the head. The victim is in her 30s and local to the Maidstone area."

She describes the female offender as white, aged between 20-25, 5ft 4in in height, slim, with straight, blonde, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a pink and white long-sleeved top, faded blue jeans and a white belt with silver studs.

Both of the men she was with were white, aged 20-25 and about 6ft in height.

One was slim, with short dark brown hair and was wearing a red puffa jacket. He is also said to have long thin fingers and a possible broken nose.

The other had short, blond hair and was wearing a white jacket, pale blue jeans and a plain blue baseball cap.
