Police and fire crews searching for young boy reportedly climbing up House of Fraser at Fremlin Walk
16:00, 11 July 2016
Emergency services are searching Maidstone after reports a young boy was scaling a shopping centre.
A call to police suggested the youngster was aged between eight and 10 and was seen climbing a sign at the House of Fraser building.
The building overlooks the busy four-lane Fairmeadow road and emergency crews arrived just after 4pm.
But both police and the fire service say they launched a search but did not find a boy in distress.
The fire service has sent a fire engine and a height vehicle, which were parked nearby in Earl Street. Crews left the scene around 4.30pm.
