Bearsted Golf Club celebrated their 125th anniversary on Saturday with a nod to the past.
Members dressed up for their Hickory Golf Club day. The club was founded in 1895 and has been at its current course in Ware Street ever since.
The day started with a celebration glass of champagne and 52 members of the club dressed in typical golf attire from the 1890s and used Hickory shafted golf clubs as used by players of that time.
After the Round of golf which was won by P Heynes, D Shipton, T Corkery and I Pateman, the men’s captain Nick Manser, ladies captain Sue Humphries and vets captain Alex Boyd played their ‘drive in’ strokes at the 18th hole to officially recognise the start of their year as captains.
The club is very well supported by its members and now has a vibrant junior section to offer golf to the next generation of players.
