Best's pride as four-year-old romps home
00:00, 19 July 2002
PAULA'S PRIDE, trained at Hucking, near Maidstone, by John Best, landed a gamble at Folkestone. The four-year-old was backed from 8-1 down to 7-2 and romped home in the one mile, one and a half furlong race.
Apprentice jockey Graham Gibbons carried out Best's orders to perfection. He kept Paula's Pride on the inside before unleashing her with a run when entering the straight.
The horse, a winner as a two-year-old at Brighton, is owned by Medway Towns businessmen Tom Tanton and Fred French.
