KENT boxer Ben Frankham failed in his bid to win the National Association of Boys' Clubs' Championship Class B title at Sunderland. The 16-year-old, from the Westree Boxing Club in Maidstone, produced a spirited display before losing a unanimous points decision against European Cadet champion Tony Jeffries.
"Ben put up a really good performance against a very experienced boy who has boxed for England," said his coach Eddie Henderson.
Two other Westree boxers were successful in their bouts. Tommy Kittle, 15, beat Justin Gregory, of the Samuel Montague Club, at Dartford, while Bill Driver, also 15, defeated Daniels, of Bexhill, in a show in the Sussex town.
