Kiwi Ben Brill plays his final game for Maidstone on the biggest stage of all.
Brill returns to New Zealand next month after two years with Maidstone and the 24-year-old is looking to leave on a high by helping the County Town club to Intermediate Cup glory against Bridgnorth at Twickenham on Sunday.
Brill arrived at Maidstone a year after brother Sam, who went home last summer.
He said: “I came over to get in on the act but I didn’t realise Twickenham would be on the cards in a cup. It’s going to be awesome.
“I’ve memories of watching the All Blacks play England at Twickenham – there’s always been a big rivalry – and it’s an impressive stadium. I haven’t been there before but I’ve heard good things about the place.
“My brother’s missed out by a year and he’s been giving me a bit over it. He’s jealous but happy at the same time.”
Twickenham will cap a memorable two years in England for Brill, who hopes to return one day. He’s made plenty of friends at Maidstone and will keep an eye on the club’s progress next season.
He said: “Us Kiwis have always had a bit of a travel bug for Europe and the UK. I’ve made a lot of friends and will definitely be staying in touch.”
