Alex Brown is set to be out for at least three to four weeks with a knee injury picked up against Bath last weekend.

The Maidstone midfielder twisted ligaments in a challenge, shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Stones manager Jay Saunders said: “Browny couldn’t work on Monday or Tuesday – he was in a bit of pain.

“Realistically, I think we’re looking at three to four weeks. I can’t see it being before then.

“It’s a shame because he’s had a good start to the season. I know he’s been out of the team but he did well on Saturday.

“He was just unfortunate in the tackle. It sums him up that he went in for it, though.”

Brown’s injury could open the door for Simon Johnson, subject of a number of loan enquiries, while James Rogers’ month at Folkestone is up after the weekend.

Saunders said: “A few clubs have come in to take Simon on loan but he comes into the equation now. He was quite keen to go out and get games rather than sitting in the stands or on the bench.

“We’ve not had the right offer and now Browny’s injured, it’s whether we can afford to let him
go.”
