Alex Brown can see Maidstone meeting Gillingham in the Football League again one day.

Brown, who has signed a new one-year deal at the Gallagher Stadium, has won two promotions since joining from Gills midway through the 2012-13 season.

The chance to play for his hometown club in front of 2,000 crowds eased the disappointment of dropping out of league football.

And midfielder Brown believes the National South new boys, who are only two promotions away from League 2, will keep climbing.

Stones last met Gills in the old Fourth Division in March 1992.

Brown said: "Coming to Maidstone, you don't feel like you've dropped down as much. It's a big club.

"I know Gillingham are an established league club but Maidstone have got the facilities and are going places.

"I'd like to think they could meet in the league again.

"The club's definitely improved, even since I've been here.

"It's up and up and, you never know, in a few years' time it could be in the Football League with Gillingham. It would be good to see that."
