Mote squash player James Evans is ready for the biggest month of his life.
He flies to Namibia on August 5 for the World Junior Championships where he will represent England in both the individual and team events.
He’ll be back home in Maidstone for two days before moving to America to start a four-year course at squash powerhouse Trinity College on August 25.
Evans, 18, believes a change in technique helped clinch his world call-up.
He said: “I’ve been on the fringes all year and knew I would be there or thereabouts when the squad was picked.
“I’ve had individual coaching with Fiona Geaves, the England junior coach and I’ve changed my technique to make my drop shots more effective."
Keen to combine squash with education, the former British under-15 champion made the decision to pursue college in America.
He visited three colleges with his mother before deciding on Trinity, in Connecticut.
He said: “I couldn’t combine university and squash in this country, so America was the best option."
