Maidstone United boss Hakan Hayrettin is hoping to complete deals for more of last season’s squad after getting five signed up already.

Raphe Brown, Sam Corne, Joe Ellul, Gavin Hoyte and Dom Odusanya will all be returning to the Gallagher for the 2021/22 season and Hayrettin hopes the likes of George Elokobi and Scott Rendell will also commit for another season with the Stones.

Justin Amaluzor and Chris Lewington have both already announced their departures.

With plenty of football still taking place, including in the National League, the Stones boss will need to keep some of his options open.

Speaking to the club, he said: “It’s an unusual time in that the EFL has only just finished and the National League still has a fortnight to run.

“At this stage, you’d normally have a clearer idea of who’s been released from the pro clubs and who’s out of contract at our level and the one above. That will settle down soon and we can start to announce some new faces who will be coming to join us.

“All of our lads were out of contract at the end of the season. I am speaking to the likes of George Elokobi and Scott Rendell about new deals, I’ve invited some back for pre-season and others have decided to look elsewhere either for themselves or because they’re not in our plans.”

The Stones will be holding an open training session when they return, on Saturday, July 3.

“I can’t wait to get our supporters back together again,” the manager added.

Maidstone had already announced the signing of youngsters Perry Iandolo and Max Sutton.
