Flower power defeats The Mote

A SUPERB 92 from Zimbabwean Test star Grant Flower helped Lashings to a formidable 206 against The Mote on Sunday in the opening game of the Maidstone Festival Week.
Flower shared in a century partnership with West Indian Test batsman Stuart Williams (40) after Lashings had lost Shoaib Akhtar (Pakistan), Sherwin Campbell (West Indies) and Stuart Carlisle (Zimbabwe) for 30.
Needing to score at more than five an over, The Mote faced a tall order against Akhtar and got off to a bad start when Tom Harvey was deceived by the paceman's slower ball.
They were eventually dismissed for 78 with Matthew Wooderson taking four for 13. Ari Richardson, the son of former West Indies captain Richie, claimed one for 10 in four overs.
