Maidstone striker Hady Ghandour has been called up by Lebanon for two World Cup qualifiers this month.

Ghandour, who is on loan at the Gallagher from Charlton, is in the squad for matches against Iran on November 11 and the United Arab Emirates on November 16.

The 21-year-old, who made his Lebanon debut against South Korea in September, will miss the Stones’ National South game at Havant while on international duty.

Speaking to KentOnline last week, Ghandour said: “It was the ultimate dream to play for my country and let’s hope for more call-ups and more minutes.

“I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think I’d go this early but the manager’s called me up so I’m grateful for that.

“When I sit back and think about it, it’s crazy to think where I’ve come from but that’s the product of hard work. I’ve still got a lot more to give, this is just the start hopefully.

“We’ve got games on the 11th and 16th of November so we’ll see if I get called up.”

Ghandour was born in England to Lebanese parents and speaks fluent Arabic.

He’s made three appearances for the Stones since joining on a one-month loan deal.
