Head coach Hakan Hayrettin has urged Maidstone players to show the Gallagher crowd they are sorry for this season’s relegation.
Hayrettin feels they can do that by putting on a performance in the final game of the season at home to Aldershot on Saturday.
Many Stones players will be making their final appearance for the club with the squad set to break up over the summer and Hayrettin wants them to go out on a high.
He said: “I keep saying it and people just think I’m making it up, the support this football club gets is amazing.
“Give them something at least.
“I know we’ve given them a trophy in the Kent Senior Cup but in this last game of your season at this level, go and give them something, go and show them what you can do.
“If they can’t appreciate what the supporters mean, questions have to be raised.
“If it were me, I would go out and try to put on a performance to show them, look we’re sorry, we should have done better because no one likes to be in that position.
“The players don’t, we don’t and especially the supporters.
“We’ve just got to show them something and give them something, I personally think.”
