Emily Royer has secured a golf scholarship in America.
The 17-year-old, from Maidstone, is the only British student to receive an offer from Georgia State University. Her scholarship will start alongside a four-year accountancy degree next August.
Dad Roy said: “It’s a big weight off Emily’s shoulders to have the scholarship in the bag.
"The last couple of years she’s been playing with pressure knowing she had to perform to attract interest from coaches.
“She’s in a position now where she can pick and choose her tournaments.
"America is the route she’s always wanted to take and she’d set her heart on Georgia, so it’s great she received an offer from her first-choice university.”
Royer, who is in the final year of her A-levels at Maidstone Grammar School, became the youngest winner of the Kent Ladies’ Championship when she took the title in April aged 16.
