Maidstone’s James Hall once again played a leading role in a medal-winning display by Great Britain’s gymnasts.

Pegasus member and GB skipper Hall teamed up with ex-clubmate Courtney Tulloch, Joe Fraser, Harry Hepworth and Jake Jarman in a thrilling men’s European Artistic Gymnastics Championships team Final in Rimini, where they lost to Ukraine by just 0.5 of a mark. Hosts and favourites Italy were third.

“I’m hugely proud of this group,” Hall told british-gymnastics.org.

“There’s no disappointment at all in missing out on gold. Winning any medal at all for Great Britain feels very, very special. We’re so close and we’re all on a journey together as one and we’ve achieved so much.”

The action commenced with the floor discipline with Tulloch scoring 13.933 and Hall earning 14.033.

On pommel horse, Hall contributed 13.466 while rings specialist Tulloch, along with Hepworth, was in inspired form - both scoring 14.5.

On the vault, Tulloch’s step on landing scored 14.633 while the parallel bars saw Hall’s confident display earn 14.6. Fraser’s 14.8 then gave GB a slight lead heading into the final discipline, the high bar.
