Jake Hill claimed his fifth win in the last nine races at Oulton Park and goes into the British Touring Car Championship’s summer break at the top of the standings.

Platts Heath’s Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver Hill had the final say at Oulton Park, winning race three with a last-lap pass of Mikey Doble’s Vauxhall. Combined with fifth place in race one and third in race two, the victory gives Hill a four-point lead over Team Bristol Street’s Tom Ingram before the action resumes at Croft on July 27-28.

“It was a fantastic win for me and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW,” Hill said.

“I made a last-lap pass at Knickerbrook just as I did in race two, and overall it’s been a fantastic day. In race one I made a slight mistake by myself going into the hairpin, but I recovered to finish fifth and only lost one position.

“In race two, I had a nice fight through and a good fight with Dan Cammish and got third, and then, starting fourth for the final race, we came through to claim the victory, I’m absolutely over the moon. A huge thank-you to the WSR team.”

After qualifying seventh, three-and-half-tenths off pole-position man Ingram, Hill quickly moved up the race one order in his West Surrey Racing-run BMW 330e M Sport.

However a lock-up at the Island hairpin cost him a position and he fell behind Team BMW’s Adam Morgan, who drove well to stay ahead in the remaining laps. Ingram, meanwhile, took the flag ahead of last year’s champion Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK).

Race two was won by LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ’s Josh Cook after a storming drive from eighth on the grid. Hill was set for fourth before a superb move on NAPA’s Dan Cammish into the Knickerbrook chicane on the last lap claimed the final podium place.

Starting the final race from fourth, Hill and was up to third within three corners. He snatched second at the hairpin on lap 10 and then chased down Doble, seizing the advantage at Knickerbrook on the final lap to take a 17th career victory.
