Lucky 13 for trainer Best
00:00, 14 June 2002
MAIDSTONE horserace trainer John Best gained his 13th winner on the Flat since January when Broughton Zest romped home in a one and a half mile race at Beverley.
Ridden by George Baker, Broughton Zest won at 9-2 to take Best's winnings on the Flat this year to almost £70,000.
"He was always going well and won by three and a half lengths easing down," said a delighted Best, who trains at Hucking, near Maidstone.
Best owns the horse with professional gambler Dave Nevison and Bill Powell, who fortunately bought a share in the horse just before the race.
