Player only role for rugby coach Essenhigh
00:00, 15 February 2002
PAUL Essenhigh is to step down as a coach with Maidstone Rugby Club following a series of big losses by the 1st XV in recent weeks. He will continue as a player.
Club chairman, Trevor Langley, said: "The second half of the season has been disappointing and pressure has been growing on us in the league. We feel this change is necessary, as it will help renew enthusiasm within the team. I am personally very pleased that Paul will continue to play as he has served the club well over a number of seasons now."
Tim McBennett will continue to coach alongside John Whitehead, the current Mustangs coach.
Maidstone do not have a match this weekend.
The Mustangs meet Thanet Wanderers 2nd at The Mote, kick off 2.30pm, in a Kent Invicta 1 League match.
