Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders advises his players to avoid looking at football forums

Maidstone manager Jay Saunders believes players suffer from reading internet criticism and has advised them to steer clear.
Defeat by Oxford City last weekend sparked a big reaction on the fans’ forum.
Stones answered critics with a 1-0 win at Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday night and go for their first home victory in National League South when Hayes & Yeading visit the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
Saunders said: “I’ve got better things to do with my time than go on forums. It doesn’t interest me at all. A few players do have a look and it affects them a little bit.
“People have got used to seeing us win games over the last few years but we’re in a new league and this is first time where we might lose a few.
“My advice to the players is not to go on it. You’re always going to get people who want to knock you.The best way to answer critics is to put on good performances.”
Saunders is satisfied with United’s return of two wins from four games.
Both victories have come away and it’s time to get off the mark at the Gallagher against Hayes.
He said: “If you reversed it and we’d won our two home games and lost two away, people would say it wasn’t bad. Home form is important but we’ve done things the other way round.”
