It was a case of job done for Maidstone as Reiss Greenidge settled a forgettable game against Weston.
Greenidge headed home the only goal inside the final 20 minutes to strengthen the Stones’ National League South play-off push.
And while the match won’t live long in anyone’s memory, all that matters is the result.
George Elokobi made two changes to the side who won in the league at Dartford, with Chi Ezennolim and Matt Bentley replacing the injured Liam Sole and Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong.
A low-key first half, strangely short on quality, failed to produce a single shot from either side.
Weston popped the ball about neatly enough in the early stages, but with no real purpose, while the high-intensity football Elokobi demands from the Stones was lacking.
Harry Kyprianou averted a potentially dangerous situation by cutting out a low Jordan Bastin cross while the Stones’ only bright moment of the opening 45 was a positive run by Bentley into the Weston box.
Rex Mannings sent a shot into the Genco Stand for the visitors at the start of the second half.
Maidstone introduced Lamar Reynolds midway through the half and he was straight into the action, combining neatly with Matt Rush down the left but the cross was cleared.
Ezennolim’s ball across the six-yard box just needed a touch as United showed more promise.
And the opener followed in the 71st minute with Sam Corne floating a free-kick to the back post for Greenidge to head home.
Luke Humphries should have done better at the far post as Weston missed a quick chance to level while he made a mess of a 25-yard free-kick minutes later.
Moving into the last 10 minutes, Max Harris saved well from Rush and Bentley sent the follow-up over, while Humphries went close with a overhead kick for the visitors.
