Maidstone manager Jay Saunders won’t let concerns over Hendon’s pitch get to his players when the Ryman League Premier Division title rivals meet.

United go to Hendon on Saturday, 3pm with the chance to move 11 points clear of their nearest challengers, albeit having played two games more.

Stones then meet Peacehaven at the Gallagher Stadium on Easter Monday (3pm).

It will be Maidstone’s third visit of the season to Earlsmead – the ground Hendon share with Harrow – and they are yet to win.

Saunders will warn his players about the surface but hopes they have learned from experience as they look to close in on the title.

He said: “This is a massive weekend coming up with two games in three days and if we win both, we’ll be in a strong position with three games to go.

“When you talk to people about the pitch, people don’t realise how bad it is until they see it for themselves.

“You’ve got the slope to contend with and it’s hard to get out from that bottom end.

“It’s difficult to know what state it will be in. When I played there in the League Cup game, it was boggy and horrible and the other week it was hard and bobbly. We can’t let it get to us."
