Shirt is KM Mini masterpiece

00:00, 07 June 2002

FOOTBALL supporters can bid for this England shirt signed by members of the 2002 squad at a Maidstone United charity auction.

The club has acquired the red reversible shirt, signed in February, to be sold to the highest bidder at the KM Mini World Cup on Wednesday, June 12.

The shirt - modelled here by nine-year-old Alexander Batchelor from Maidstone - comes with a certificate of authenticity and has a reserve price of £500. All proceeds will go to children's charity Barnardos. Readers will also be able to register bids for the shirt, which will be read out by Maidstone United officials on the day.

To register a bid, you must contact Maidstone United either by telephone on 01622 834845 or e-mail tinab@gsclayton.demon.co.uk with your bid and credit card number. Bids must be at least £500 and if you are successful you will be notified by telephone and letter before the money is taken from your account.

The auction is part of the KM Mini World Cup tournament, a fun charity event organised by Maidstone United at Cobdown Sports and Social Club, Station Road, Ditton.

Money raised at the event by the auction and a raffle will go to Barnados. The winners will receive £1,000 for the charity of their choice.
