SCOTT SMART finished the season on a high with a second place finish in the Race of the Year event at Mallory Park.

Smart was still suffering from a virus, which wrecked his chances of making an impact at Brands Hatch during last week’s final round of the British Superbike championship, but he still clinched a podium spot despite a few scares.

"It was quite a good day and it was a good way to finish the season and hopefully that will help with my negotiations for next year."
