KM Football Podcast 32 - Steve Watt
08:00, 14 May 2019
Any player who started his professional career under Jose Mourinho is bound to have a few stories - and Steve Watt certainly does.
The 34-year-old joined us in the studio to discuss a career which took him from rural Scotland to Stamford Bridge amid interest from almost every Premier League club.
Watt joined Swansea after leaving Chelsea but the former defender readily admits he massively under-achieved at those levels given his huge potential as a youngster.
You'll hear in the interview how he put family first by moving south and going part-time with Dover, only to be struck down by a serious injury.
But every cloud has a silver lining and a subsequent move to Maidstone gave Watt the happiest times in his career.
Listen to his memories of playing for Jay Saunders and leading a team of real characters before later returning to join the club's coaching staff.
Watt's time as Margate manager also provides some extraordinary anecdotes, including the day two of his players started fighting in the changing-room.
