Loughborough University student Niall Stewart from Maidstone wins the second Headcorn Half Marathon with a minute and a half to spare

Maidstone's Niall Stewart won the second Headcorn Half-Marathon on Sunday, writes Alan Newman.
The Loughborough University student led the field home in 1hr17min21sec, with Ian Forrest of Maidstone Harriers among 40 athletes to complete the race in 90 minutes or less.
Forrest recorded 1:24.09 while further up the order Rob Deakin (Birchfield Harriers, 1:18.50) and Steven Barkess (Weald Tri, 1:19.04) completed the top three.
Local men in top-20 positions included Matthew Streatfield (unattached, 1:19.33), Paul Jones (Istead & Ifield Harriers, 1:21.07), M40 Steve Button (Rebel Runners Medway, 1:27.36) and Lee Simpson (Sittingbourne Striders, 1:27.54).
The male age-group winners were M40 Daniel Green (Ashford Tri, 1:20.20); M50 John Foss (South London Harriers, 1:25.08) and M60 Dave Morris (unattached, 1:46.25).
Unattached W35 Annie Greenland (1:24.39) ran away with the women’s race. Sarah Mooney (W35 Larkfield, 1:28.44) and Faye Roberts (Canterbury Harriers, 1:29.55) were second and third.
Eloise Smith (Rebel Runners Medway, 1:34.07) was sixth and Shirley Exall (W45 Paddock Wood, 1:36.55) finished 10th. Also prominent were W35 masters Sarah Kenyon (M&M, 1:37.50) and Nicola Morris (Tunbridge Wells Harriers, 1:38.03).
