Maidstone United head of football John Still sees Andre Boucaud make an instant impact

Maidstone feel they are on to something with their new midfield trio.
Andre Boucaud, Zihni Temelci and Saidou Khan formed an instant understanding on their first start together as the Stones beat Oxford City 1-0 on Saturday.
It was Boucaud’s full league debut after signing from Barnet and he helped bring out the best in Khan and Temelci.
Head of football John Still said: “We felt Andre could get our attacks going and with Zihni and Saidou, we felt that could be a real strong midfield.
“I thought those three dominated the game for us.
“Bringing Andre in gives us a little bit more experience in midfield in how to control a game, when to quicken it up, when to slow it down, when to go long, when to keep possession.
“We’ve got it at the back with George Elokobi, who knows when to kick it out the stadium, but we haven’t really had that in midfield.”
The clean sheet was just a sixth in 26 National South games for Maidstone this season and a first in eight matches.
But Still feels their commitment to attack should be taken into account when considering their defensive record.
He said: “We don’t play for clean sheets.
“We push both our full-backs on, we take chances and I think if you want to try and play the way we want to play, you do take chances.
“We do look at goals against, can we avoid them, of course we do, but we understand we might get caught now and again because of the way we play.
“We don’t want to change the way we play and the ideal situation is to score more than the other team.
“We’re not happy sometimes with the goals we concede but we’re happy with the way we play.”
