Maidstone suffered their first home defeat of the season when Enfield pulled off a shock 3-0 win at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday.

A goal down at the break, the Ryman League Premier Division leaders were picked off in the last 10 minutes as they chased the game with four strikers on the park.

United's best chance of a flat first half came right at the end when Jack Parkinson flashed a header over from Ben Greenhalgh's corner after losing his man with a near-post run.

Other than that, Greenhalgh saw a half-volley comfortably saved by Nathan McDonald, Billy Bricknell sent a strike across the face of goal and Frannie Collin saw a 20-yard free-kick clear the bar.

Enfield were quick on the break and had a couple of counters snuffed out before taking the lead on 23 minutes.

Shane Huke was caught out in conceding a corner which was played in by Nathan Livings and finished by Claudiu Vilcu.

Stones replaced Greenhalgh with Alex Brown at half-time and by the hour United's other winger was off with Matt Bodkin replaced by big Nathan Elder in a change of shape.

It was worth the gamble as Stones had again been strangely subdued.

A spot of handbags midway through the half fired up both the team and the crowd, with Parkinson's cracking 25-yard strike hitting the bar.

Elder then saw a close-range strike blocked by Vilcu from Parkinson's long throw and Watt put a header over as pressure increased.

Maidstone had four forwards on for the last 10 minutes as Alex Akrofi came on for James Rogers.

It left them horribly open - they had no choice - and with Parkinson down injured the visitors broke and added their second through Bobby Devyne on 84 minutes.

Devyne went through again three minutes later to add Enfield's third.

Maidstone: Worgan, Huke, Mills, Watt, Miles, Rogers (Akrofi 78mins), Bodkin (Elder 60mins), Parkinson, Bricknell, Collin, Greenhalgh (Brown 46mins). Subs not used: Coyle, Godmon. Attendance: 2,202
