Billy Bricknell rescued a draw as Maidstone moved eight points clear in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

United trailed Harrow at the break after probably their poorest half all season.

But Bricknell levelled and with title rivals Margate losing at home to Enfield, it turned out to be a decent afternoon for Jay Saunders' men.

Nothing worked for the visitors in the first half and they seemed to be struggling with an awful pitch.

They didn't manage a shot until Jack Parkinson sent a scruffy effort wide from the edge of the box after Bricknell's run was halted.

Lowly Harrow seemed more interested in playing for free-kicks than anything else.

But they went in front on 27 minutes when Jamie Coyle was caught in possession by Kamaron English who sent Marc Charles-Smith through to beat Lee Worgan.

Ryan Hope was inches away from doubling the lead on 50 minutes after Stones lost the ball midway in Harrow's half.

United were about to introduce Matt Bodkin when Bricknell cleverly lifted the ball over keeper Nick Jupp for the leveller after 59 minutes.

Ten minutes later, though, Stones did turn to Bodkin in a switch to 4-4-2 that saw Bricknell make way.

Bodkin's impact was immediate in lifting the visitors' tempo and they started to take charge, going close to a second when Shane Huke flashed a header wide from a corner.

Maidstone were all over the hosts after that.

Unbelievably, they were refused a penalty after Ben Greenhalgh was barged over in the six-yard box.

Greenhalgh then went close to an injury-time winner.
