MAIDSTONE United manager Jim Ward has criticised the Bass Brewers Kent League's decision to postpone the top-of-the-table clash at Cray on Saturday.
The league has insisted that Stones attempt to play their Premier Division Cup, second round, tie at Beckenham which was rained off for the third time on Tuesday night.
"This decision makes no sense at all," said Ward. "Cray are upset because they were expecting their biggest gate of the season and will lose money if the match is now played midweek, while if the cup match is off again it will be three Saturdays out of four without a game for us."
Beckenham and Maidstone cannot play next Tuesday because the south London side play Dulwich in the London Senior Cup. "There is no hurry to play this cup game as the semi-finals are not until next month and we have plenty of spare Saturdays and midweek nights left this season," added Ward.
The decision to reschedule the Cray match follows the postponement of other crucial league games against Deal and VCD Athletic in recent weeks.
Captain Paul Foley is Ward's only doubt for the trip to Eden Park after he suffered a dead leg in the 3-1 win over Whitstable.
Meanwhile, Steve Robinson has left Stones to become Dartford reserve team manager. Robinson was appointed Stones player-coach at the start of the season but was replaced by Steve Butler in January.
Midfielder Adrian Web-ster trained with Torquay on Tuesday but is available this weekend.
