Maidstone United new boy Jack Powell ready to get the home fans cheering this time

00:00, 19 October 2018

Jack Powell silenced the Gallagher Stadium on his last visit but he wants to get the place rocking on Saturday.

Powell, who scored both goals in a 2-1 win for Ebbsfleet on January 9, is now a Stones player after agreeing a permanent transfer from Stonebridge Road.

He was impressed by the noise inside the ground that night and can't wait to make his home debut against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup.

Powell said: "That was a good night for Ebbsfleet and me but it was a good atmosphere and that was my first time playing here.

"I wouldn’t say it was a surprise because lots of people told me about it but it is one of the better atmospheres you play in front of in this league.

"The average attendance is very good as well so I’m looking forward to playing there regularly and hopefully I can get a few goals as well."

Powell signed for Maidstone last Friday and was still learning his new team-mates' names on the way up to AFC Fylde.

He said: "On Friday I was at the ground getting the paperwork done. I only met the manager and a few of the people behind the scenes.

"I had a chat with a few of the lads on Friday night who I already knew.

"I met them at Euston station on Saturday morning, we got the train up to Fylde and played the game so that was the first time I met them.

"It’ll be good to get a week’s training under my belt with all the players and that leads us into the FA Cup game on Saturday."

Powell's main focus is helping Stones climb away from the National League relegation zone.

He said: "Everyone in that bottom half will be looking to put three or four wins together and before you know it, you’re looking like you might even get in the play-offs.

"With the group we’ve got here at Maidstone, after playing on Saturday and knowing quite a lot of them anyway, there’s a lot of quality in this squad.

"I’m looking forward to getting regular game time and seeing where it takes us as a team."
