Maidstone fought back from a goal down to draw with Dulwich Hamlet on Wednesday night - but they should have had three points.

Dulwich keeper Phil Wilson made a brilliant penalty save from Frannie Collin with nine minutes left that had opposite number Lee Worgan applauding.

Collin had been fouled by Dulwich scorer Terrell Forbes, who was sent off, but Wilson dived to his right to deny Collin.

Stones fell behind to Forbes' first-half effort but levelled through Jay May after the break to cut Margate's lead in the Ryman League Premier Division to four points.

If unchanged Maidstone were feeling the effects of their FA Cup exertions, it didn't show in a fast start.

Steve Watt went close after meeting a flick from a free-kick, Alex Flisher hit the side-netting after shaking off Jordan Hibbert, Collin had a fierce strike parried and Matt Bodkin's follow-up was blocked.

Stones continued to carve out chances with May's ball across the six-yard box crying out for a touch, then Jack Parkinson had a header and a shot blocked before Jamie Coyle's drive tested Phil Wilson.

But Dulwich grew into the game and having seen a penalty shout for handball turned down, they tested Worgan before Forbes headed home a cross on 31 minutes.

Dulwich looked stronger after the goal and things were no longer coming off for United before half-time.

Collin saw a 25-yard free-kick well saved by Wilson after the break, then Watt had a diving header from the resulting corner blocked.

Watt stayed forward and seconds later went close again after meeting Coyle's cross.

Stones levelled on 58 minutes when Flisher fed the outstanding James Rogers whose cross set up a tap-in for May.

Worgan touched a Nyren Clunis close-range effort on to the post and did well to clear the loose ball as Dulwich threatened to regain the lead.

But an equally good chance fell United's way moments later with Flisher lashing over first time when cleverly played in by Collin.

It took a goalline clearance from Sonny Miles to deny 10-man Dulwich a winner while Stones threatened from an injury-time corner.
