Maidstone collected the Ryman League Premier Division trophy in front of a packed Gallagher Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
There was a party atmosphere on the final day of the season as United beat East Thurrock 3-2.
Captain Steve Watt received the trophy from league vice-chairman Nick Robinson as a full house of 2,226 celebrated promotion to Conference South as champions.
One fan, Carl Davis, said: "I thought we had a decent chance of winning the league but I still can't quite believe it's happened.
"You don't forget days like this in a hurry. Jay Saunders and the players have done the town proud."
Another supporter, Chris Harris, said: "I didn't think it would get any better than the FA Cup games against Stevenage but today beats that."
A title party in the Spitfire Lounge is in full swing and expected to finish after midnight.
