Maidstone came good to beat Met Police 3-1 in their opening Ryman League Premier Division game of the season on Saturday.
United laboured in a poor first half and trailed to a goal from Bradley Hudson-Odoi.
But Frannie Collin's free-kick, a debut goal from Jay May and a late third for substitute Charley Robertson turned the match around.
The one moment of quality from United in the first half saw Matt Bodkin work an opening for May who eased the ball past keeper Nicholas Jupp only to see his effort cleared off the line.
Stones fell behind on 34 minutes, Hudson-Odoi with the goal after Lee Worgan stopped his initial effort.
Worgan saved Stones from going two down soon after with an outstanding block from Will Salmon.
Maidstone launched their comeback on 66 minutes when Collin curled home a free-kick from 20 yards following a foul on Alex Brown.
The hosts when in front seven minutes later with May latching on to a long ball down the right from Stephen Butcher to beat Jupp.
United were a changed side after getting in front and made sure of the points on 88 minutes when Robertson danced through the defence and rounded the keeper.
Maidstone: Worgan, Butcher, Mills, Watt, Miles, Brown (Robertson 83mins), Bodkin, Parkinson, May (Harris 89mins), Collin (Rogers 77mins). Subs not used: Coyle, Godmon.
Attendance: 1,566.
