SCHOOLBOY Tom Sherreard has been named England Boys captain for golf’s Home International championship in August.
The 17-year-old, who has just completed his A-levels at Maplesden Noakes school, will be making his seventh appearance for the national side at the Woodhall Spa course, Lincolnshire.
Sherreard, from Maidstone, is naturally delighted at the honour.
He said: "I was in Italy playing for England in the European Boys Championships and there were a few people hoping to get it.
"I thought it would be me but it’s always nice to get the tap on the shoulder. As a person I’m quite outgoing and able to get up and do speeches and things.
"I’m captain for that one event and will help on the selection committee. I’m not sure about any events after that."
