Maidstone's FA Trophy run came to an end on Saturday when they were beaten by AFC Sudbury at the Gallagher Stadium.
Stones boss Jay Saunders made six changes to the starting line-up that drew 1-1 with Dulwich Hamlet in the Ryman League Premier Division on Wednesday night - as they looked ahead to their FA Cup first round replay against Stevenage on Thursday.
And, despite the changes the home side started well, having the best of the opening exchanges.
However, in the space of five first-half minutes the game turned in favour of Sudbury.
Kris Newby gave the visitors the lead on 19 minutes, before Stones strikes Jay May received a straight red card five minutes later. As a result an unhappy Saunders was also ordered to leave the dug out after letting his frustrations get the better of him.
Despite being down to 10 men Maidstone piled on the pressure in the second half with Alex Akrofi going closest to finding the equaliser.
However as Maidstone pushed, Sudbury grabbed a late second goal through Newby to send Stones crashing out at the second qualifying stage.
