A dad was left shocked after watching his 13-year-old son score a 35-yard stunner on his debut for a new club.

Footy-mad Tyler Page - who loves watching videos of Diego Maradona - had already scored some special goals for K Sports and Bearsted but his effort for Welling United in the Junior Premier League had a bit of everything.

Midfielder Page picked up the ball midway inside his own half, outfoxed his opponent with a nutmeg, leaving the same player on the floor and others in awe as his 35-yard effort flew over the young Dartford goalie, sparking wild scenes and cries of "oh my days!"

Dad Steven Page was speechless. He's watched his son do some special things already during his years playing junior football but strikes from distance aren't the norm.

"I love it just as much as he does," said his Dad. "The sense of pride I get from watching him is unmatched by anything.

"That goal rendered me speechless, I was motionless, just shocked!

"He doesn't shoot from distance normally. His normal goals are solo goals. To see him shoot from 35 yards was just outstanding, amazing."

It was a trademark solo effort for Bearsted that won Tyler a place at Welling, as onlookers watched him evade numerous tackles, running half the length of the pitch before tucking the ball home. A coach from Welling was also in the crowd and was quick to sign him up.

The young footballer supports Tottenham, like his dad, but often watches local team Maidstone United. He started out with Bearsted in the Maidstone Primary League but moved to K Sports for the chance to compete in the Kent Youth League. He had been scouted by them while playing for the Maidstone District schools team. Tyler's a pupil at the town's New Line Learning Academy.

It was in a Kent Cup match for Bearsted that alerted Welling to his talent, scoring that solo goal against Long Lane. He's now on the South London side's books, playing in the JPL for them on Saturdays and for K Sports on a Sunday, while also playing in the Maidstone District team.

"He lives, eats and breaths football," said his dad. "I loved football when I was young but didn't have the talent he has got. He had a couple of assists for Welling the weekend just gone which he thinks are normal, how is that normal? He is 13-years-old! Kevin De Bruyne (who plays for Man City) would be happy with that, but he just says, 'yeah it was alright.'"

Tyler's debut goal for Welling came in a match that was played at Cleeve Park School, in Sidcup. His new club has established a successful academy since its formation just five years ago - already promoting talented young kids into professional clubs.

Garry Fiore is Welling's academy director and director of football and he was made aware of the goal as well.

"It's an unbelievable strike," he said. "There is such great talent coming through."

Welling have 40 youth teams - boys and girls.

Mr Fiore said: "The amount of talent that we see has been remarkable and so many of them have signed for clubs.

"We try to make sure they are best equipped for the level they are at and when you see kids doing something like that, it is amazing."
