Three members of Maidstone Roller Dance Club have been picked to represent Great Britain at the World Cup.
Brothers Oliver and Zac Martin (senior men’s solo) and Laura Donoghue (junior ladies) have received call-ups.
The World Cup was due to be held for the first time in 2020 but was postponed due to Covid-19.
It will now take place in Italy and Portugal next month, with the finals later this year in Germany.
Maidstone coach Ann Odhams said: “This is wonderful news, and the first international event Great Britain are sending a team to since 2019.
“I am thrilled that we have skaters going, particularly for Laura, as she hasn’t been selected for this level event before.”
It’s the latest good news for the club, coming hot on the heels of success at the GBSA national event at Great Yarmouth.
They took 22 skaters to Norfolk, returning with four golds, a silver and two bronze medals.
Individual golds went to Eoywn Ogilvie, in her first competition representing Maidstone, and Chloe Barton.
The senior team of Ella Donoghue, Oliver Martin and Zac Martin also topped the podium, and Oliver Martin won gold in the couples.
Maidstone Roller Dance Club, based at the YMCA, are looking for sponsorship. If you can help, email info@mrdc.uk.
