Tommy Warrilow was left scratching his head after Tonbridge limped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United.

Angels didn't register a shot on target until the 88th minute at Longmead and by then, the game was well out of their reach.

A win would have taken Tonbridge out of the Skrill South relegation zone but they were always second-best against in-form Fleet.

Warrilow said: "I'm more upset with the performance (than the result).

"We never played, we never got going and I thought we were sloppy all round the pitch. We never created anything until the last couple of minutes, so I'm disappointed with that."

"I thought we started the game poorly. We came in 1-0 down at half-time and, to be honest, against a side like this, you're lucky to come in 1-0 when you do what we did in the first half. I don't think we got going at all for some reason."

Tonbridge held Bishop's Stortford to a 1-1 draw on Saturday but there was no zip to their play on Tuesday in a game which rarely felt like a Kent derby.

Warrilow said: "We changed it around a little bit with some fresh legs. That didn't work. We put the subs on and that never really changed it either. It's 'scratch your head time' as to why, after Saturday's performance, we've reverted back to a poor performance.

"The second goal summed our night up. My centre-half (Gary Elphick), I don't know what he did, he headed it back across (our goal), and then it's 2-0.

"I've got no complaints. The best team won on the night."
