Firefighters were called after a blaze started in a large pile of fly-tipped rubbish.

Two crews went to land off the A228 Malling Road in Mereworth shortly before 9.10pm after a report of a fire in a field.

The landowner helped them to access the site, where they began a water shuttle.

They also used drag rakes to tackle the fire, which involved a large quantity of UPVC doors and windows frames.

The blaze was extinguished by 10.10pm and crews spent a further 30 minutes damping down.
