Is this the worst view in Britain?

That's what Jo Burns thinks about the sight of this industrial estate that greets her from her home in New Hythe.

But don't just take her word for it – it has now been deemed among the top 10 grimmest in the UK in a national competition.

Online retailer DirectBlinds.co.uk asked people to send them pictures of the scene outside their windows in a bid to find Britain's worst eyesore.

The entries have been whittled down from more than 100, with a winner to be chosen by the public in an online vote next week.

Jo uploaded her photo, with the caption: "Another day in paradise in beautiful New Hythe."

Her entry has so far attracted the most votes, with three times more than any other. One person commented: "You can almost smell how horrible this is from the photo!"

Another described the scene as "post apocalypse chic" and one voter said she would have to move if she lived there.

It is up against the view of flytipping in Holyhead, a derelict building in Bradford and a brick wall in Somerset.

Whoever scoops the unfortunate accolade will get a customised blind to cover up whatever eyesore lurks outside.

DirectBlinds.co.uk joint managing director Nicolas Swift said: "We're asking people in Kent to rally together and support Jo to help her win."

The competition comes after research found 77% of people feel depressed by what they see from their homes and workplaces.
