A bus driver was left shaken after yobs threw rocks and smashed his window in a Kent town.

The 71 Arriva service was driving through Snodland at around 4.30pm last Friday when it was targeted by a group of children in Paddlesworth Road.

One window where a passenger was sitting was shattered with shards of glass falling into the seat.

The gang of youngsters were thought to have been targetting other vehicles with missiles, including stones, before the bus arrived.

Minutes later when the driver and bus arrived in Manley Boulevard Road resident Ayodeji Adedigba saw the shaken driver.

He said: "We met the driver and he told us some children were hiding around the shrub at the park and smashed the bus side window with stones which brought the vehicle to a halt.

"He was devastated as was I about such unruly behaviour. I apologised to him and said this is not what this community is about and it's completely unacceptable."

Mr Adedigba took to social media to tell people in the area to let their children know this behaviour isn't accepted, before asking anyone who noticed any movement around their houses at that time to check any of their house cameras.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We had report at 4.30pm of children throwing items at vehicles in Paddlesworth Road, Snodland.

"Officers attended and searched the area but were unable to locate them. No damage was reported."

While an Arriva spokesman added: "Arriva does not tolerate any incidents of anti-social behaviour or vandalism. We always work closely with our local authorities on investigations into such incidents, also."
