A couple whose house was broken into and car stolen while they were asleep are worried their area is being targeted.

Jason Morettes, who lives in The Avenue, Aylesford, woke up to a crowbarred door and his Audi Quattro no where to be seen.

Neighbours said they heard noise at around 2am on Wednesday, which could well have been the thieves.

The 48-year-old who lives with wife, Laura, said: "It is really scary - my wife has taken it a lot worse though. We have not been able to sleep since.

"It looked like a professional job, there was hardly any damage to the door."

Thieves broke into the couple's home, taking a whole draw of keys, one of which was for the Audi.

They called the police as soon as they found the car missing.

The Aylesford Waitrose Distribution Centre worker shared the break in on Facebook to warn others in the area.

One nearby resident said his car was stolen just seven weeks ago in broad daylight.

Mr Morettes said: "Our Facebook post has reached over three thousand people which is really good.

"We moved here in July last year and absolutely love it. I don't think it was locals - I hope not anyway."

On Tuesday, a Mercedes E-Class was taken following a break-in at a house off Bondfield Road, East Malling.

There was also a terrifying attempted robbery at gunpoint last Monday at Mace in Premier Parade.

Mr Morettes added: "We just want to warn others in the area to keep an eye out and be extra careful."

The couple have since changed the locks on their garage door and hope they will not have to suffer another break in.

Anyone with information about the vehicle thefts is asked to phone Sgt Jon Turtle on 01622 604100 quoting crime reference number 46/57225/19 for the Aylesford burglary or 46/57417/19 in relation to the East Malling break-in.
