RSPCA launches appeal after doves found in box in Manor Park Country Park in West Malling

Four doves were found dumped in a cardboard box at a park.

The birds were discovered by a member of the public in the car park in Manor Park Country Park in West Malling on August 14.

It is thought they are likely to have been in the box for some time.

They have now been transferred to a wildlife rescue in Kent where they are recovering

They are believed to be domestic pets despite not being ringed or tagged and will be rehomed unless an owner comes forward.

RSPCA inspector Kirsten Ormerod, said: “They are tame and they are very pretty birds with nice feathers, so it is so sad they have been left in this way.

“Thankfully, they were spotted and we are always extremely grateful to members of the public who take action to help animals and the birds are now receiving excellent care at a specialist wildlife centre.

“We are appealing for information as they were just abandoned in the park.”
